Hillary Learns To Drive A Big Rig!
Senator Clinton shifting gears to a new career.
Senator Hillary Clinton, who has been making a relentless-but-doubtful run for the Democratic nomination against the delegate leader, Senator Barack Obama, might be showing signs of finally giving up. She surprised everyone this week by showing up at Milton's Truck Driving school, outside Washington D.C.
"She wanted to learn to drive a truck," explained the school's owner. "She said she may be looking for other work soon and she wants a profession that will help get her out of town fast. And she has lots of files she wants to take with her."
A Clinton campaign spokesman says the trucking course has nothing to do with abandoning her goals for the country.
"Mrs. Clinton wants to get in touch with the American middle class. She wants to feel their pain, understand the stress and exhaustion that comes from long hours on the road alone."
We wondered if that meant Hillary would be leaving Bill behind while she made lengthy cross-country trips.
"I know there are lots of people out there who'd like to see Bill hit the road, too," she said. "But he has his hands full being an elder statesman to all my young, nubile political supporters."
Hillary's campaign denied that this career change represented any lowering of Hillary's ambitions. "She will continue to be a driving force in our nation."
Apparently Mrs. Clinton didn't fare too well on her first day of the driving course, knocking over pylon after pylon during the steering portion of the lesson and grinding gears badly when shifting.
"She's pretty pushy and had my first instructor pretty shaken up. She tried to fire him from my company. I had to explain that she didn't have that kind of authority here."
We asked the instructor what part of truck driving Hillary performed best at.
"She sure likes to toot her horn."
